SAFETY POLICY AND PREVENTION OF MAJOR ACCIDENTS
As a manufacturer, distributor and user of industrial explosives,
NEF is committed to demonstrating the highest level of expertise
with regard to industrial safety and the prevention of major accidents
involving the environment surrounding our sites (Vonges site and
distribution centres).
Both the management and the staff of NEF take a proactive approach
towards industrial safety and accident prevention.
This policy is based on the following objectives:
- a clear management safety policy, backed up by transparency and
clear communications,
- a safety management system that fully complies with the regulatory
requirements and which is regularly tested to ensure it is both
pertinent and efficient,
- replacing more hazardous explosives (such as dynamites), for both
workers and the environment, by safer compositions (Emulstar). This
commitment is reflected in NEF's research and development programmes,
- efficiently managing, whenever possible, the ground covered by
the most hazardous zones surrounding its pyrotechnical installations,
- reducing the risk, at source, by dimensioning installations so
that their potential impact on the environment is minimised while
at the same time ensuring their perenniality,
- ensuring that all staff are fully aware of the issues and challenges
involved in risk prevention,
- analysing any malfunctions, since these may be signs of deviations
that must be dealt with immediately in order to avoid any risk of
industrial and/or major accidents,
- providing specialised human and material resources.
